Fat Tuesday

Central to the hedonism is the music. Loud, bold, brassy and guaranteed to get you joining in The Second Line, that's the crowd that's pulled in behind the main parade. The Kansas Smittys House Band have been taking dance floors by storm for the last year and for this show they’re going full NOLA and fully expecting you to join in.

Americana Arts will be curating immersive interventions a across the evening expect to commune with long dead spirits, characters from New Orleans Folk law and find yourself listening to the real stories of hardship, suffering and triumph in adversity epitomized by the people of New Orleans both live and dead with contributions from acclaimed verbatim theatre company Look Left Look Right.

Smitty's Julep Bar will be in full effect with its specially curated range of NOLA inspired cocktails put together with our friends at Four Roses. If you need refuelling The Legendary Tamale Shack will be serving up hearty Gumbo, Jambalaya, Louisiana tamales with plenty of hot sauce.

Now Kansas Smittys definitely don’t do vintage dress up parties but this is a carnival after all, Prizes will go to the most elaborate, clever and outlandish costumes, masks and characters. Bring your beads, come as a float, as an instrument but most of all come as yourself and get loose.
